Chinese loose green tea is by far the most superior form of green tea. Whilst there are various weight loss products available if you are like me and you more so enjoy the taste and the beautiful aroma of the tea, then this variety is a must have for your kitchen.
The quality of any loose green tea depends on many factors. Those factors include everything from where the plant was grown, to the actual harvesting of the plant not to mention the actual processing of the leaves. These leaves do contain a natural oil so they should give a slight shine, not greasy to the touch but it should shine none the less. The leaves should not be broken or crumbly when handled. And they should have good color along with a delectable fragrance not to be forgotten.
If you are going to purchase loose green tea that is whole. Make sure the leaves are not broken as they are not meant to be. If they are you will experience an extremely bitter cup of tea. The smell of the tea should be just as good if not better than the actual taste. This is important if you want a high quality product.
In terms of storage your tea should be protected from the elements. This can include humidity, moisture and extensive heat. You will need to have sufficient storage containers and a place in your kitchen cupboard. Like others you can store it in the fridge however I think this causes more trouble than it is worth. If you are tying to prevent moisture forming on your loose green tea leaves then you will need to let the container and its contents come up to room temperature. This can be extremely hard to judge unless you open the container first. I would recommend storing the leaves in an art tight container in a cool dark place.
Even though this is the best grade of green tea you can save a great deal of money by buying your loose green tea in bulk. There has always been many great savings to be had by buying any food items in bulk. Green tea is no different.
Some online stores may provide you with a sample. This is ideal for you to judge, taste and make your own cups of green tea. One other thing I would suggest is that you make sure you purchase a proper green tea pot and cup set. The is important if you are going to be brewing your own tea. The taste is remarkably different and no where near as nice.
If you do not want to buy a new one you can check your local markets or yard sale. Clay tea pots are best.
